As a company staffed mostly by Minnesotans, EcoSet was excited to be a part of a recent independent short film shoot in Minneapolis.

EcoSet’s Megan Dobratz writes about her experience:

“On a recent weekend, I had the chance to be a part of the inaugural EcoSet job in Minneapolis. In partnership with Eureka Recycling, EcoSet worked with the crew to create the most sustainable set possible for “Jerry Schwingle and the Happiness Well” – an IFP Minnesota grant winning independent short film, written and directed by Sarah Jean Kruchowski.

Over the course of three full days, the 40-member crew diverted 83% of all waste generated on set. The shoot produced 95 lbs of compost, 25.4 lbs of recycling and 25.3 lbs of trash. By replacing disposable water bottles with reusable stainless steel bottles, refilled from five-gallon jugs, the set prevented the use of 500 plastic water bottles.

A large part of EcoSet’s success comes from a willing and excited crew, which was certainly the case on this shoot. It can be easy to forget that small things make a big difference; but they really do. It was a great opportunity to showcase the work of EcoSet to the Minneapolis film community.”
