Stories from Our Donation Partners
Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission is a non-profit organization working in the economically and politically disenfranchised community of Boyle Heights. Their mission is to empower the community personally and socially by developing grassroots projects in education, leadership, and service. Founded in 1986 with the goal of reducing gang violence and fostering a safe neighborhood for children in Boyle heights, they serve approximately 2,500 individuals on an annual basis. The programs provide food and shelter to the homeless and alternatives to gang activities. They also provide educational opportunities to youth, quality early childhood education and parenting classes, civic engagement, leadership development and other services.
STAR ECO Station
STAR ECO Station is an internationally award-winning non-profit environmental education and exotic wildlife rescue center, dedicated to the mission of Preservation Through Education. Located in Culver City, CA, STAR ECO Station has been dedicated to improving the quality of children’s education through educational and enrichment programming since 1986.
Working in collaboration with government and environmental organizations, STAR ECO Station provides a last chance for illegal or abandoned at-risk exotic wildlife, as well as environmental education outreach programs in over 40 California school districts.
Kristina Wong
Kristina Wong is a nationally presented solo performer, writer, actor, educator and filmmaker. Her full length solo performance, “Wong Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” explores the issues of depression and suicide among Asian American women. TeAda Productions is a nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to empower underserved communities through theatrical performance pieces by, for and about people of color.
